The Whitehorse Historical Society maintains a research collection of local history items including documents, photographs, maps, newspapers, oral histories and ephemera tracing the region’s development from agricultural to suburban/industrial.
Local history records are available for research at the local history room at Schwerkolt Cottage and Museum Complex on Wednesdays between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm or by appointment. The charge for “walk-in” research (up to one hour) is $10.
Researchers who are unable to visit the local history room can download a Research Request PDF (208kb). Please return the form together with payment (details on how to do this are on page 2 of the form).
Whitehorse Historical Society is run entirely by volunteers. The Society charges for research time, photocopying and scanning of historical documents, digitising of photographs, postage costs etc.
Please note the Local History Room is open only on Wednesdays therefore you should allow 7 – 10 days for a response.
